Katherine Steinberg

Katherine Steinberg serves as the Director for the Institute for Innovation in Health where she identifies and pilots new strategies, technologies, products and services to support the large scale transformation of healthcare. She has more than 12 years of experience in health system project management, process improvement and strategic planning. Before joining the Institute in October 2011, Katherine was part of UCLA Health System's Performance Excellence department, with the objective to deploy Lean principles throughout UCLA's hospitals and clinics to continually improve patient care, patient service and physician and staff satisfaction.
Katherine's work included facilitating end-to-end value stream transformations, supporting focused operational improvements and building Lean capabilities across the organization through coaching and training. Prior to joining UCLA, Katherine was the strategic planner for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System and spent a year with the Healthcare Advisory Board Company in Washington, D.C. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Public Policy from UCLA and a Master of Business Administration from NYU.
